Guwahati, June 21: Medhavi Skills University (MSU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sikkim Police to provide industry-integrated, skill-based higher education opportunities to the families of police personnel—both serving and retired.
The agreement, signed at the Sikkim Police Headquarters in Gangtok, aims to support the academic aspirations of police families through reserved seats, tuition waivers, and full scholarships. The MoU was formally signed by Director General of Police, Sikkim, Akshay Sachdeva, and MSU Pro-Chancellor Kuldip Sarma, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.

As part of the initiative, 100 undergraduate and 50 postgraduate seats will be reserved annually for the wards and spouses of Sikkim Police personnel. The MoU also offers a 50% tuition fee waiver for families of serving and retired police personnel and a 100% tuition scholarship for families of martyred personnel, gallantry awardees, and national or state-level sportspersons. Additionally, a 10% concession on hostel fees and merit-based scholarships linked to national-level entrance exams will be available.

Describing the partnership as a tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of police families, MSU said the initiative aligns with its mission to democratize access to quality, skill-based education and create tangible impact through public-private collaboration.
Officials said the collaboration not only acknowledges the service of the Sikkim Police but also aims to empower their families with education that leads to real-world employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
