In the wake of the arrest made by the East Khasi Hills Police on October 31, the Ri Bhoi Police has also taken action by filing a suo-moto case against Bless Dkhar, a leader of the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF). He stands accused of extorting money from trucks operating on the Umiam-Damsite Bridge.
Reports indicate that the Laitumkhrah Police Station initiated a Suo-Moto case against the HNYF East Khasi Hills president following the circulation of a voice recording online. The recording captured Dkhar's involvement in the alleged extortion scheme.
In response to the recent issuance of demand notes in the name of the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) has stepped forward to support those affected.
