Meghalaya footballer Sanfida Nongrum has brought pride to the state after being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SAFF Women’s Championship, following India’s 3-1 victory over defending champions Bangladesh in the final at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa.
Meghalaya’s Sanfida Nongrum got her name on the scoresheet on debut, but India went down 1-2 to Vietnam in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 group stage opener at the Perth Rectangular Stadium on Wednesday.
