On 4 November 2025, leaders from four northeastern states gathered in New Delhi under the banner of One North East to announce the creation of a new political platform. The joint statement they released described the effort as an attempt “to form a united singular political entity that truly represents the aspirations of our people.”

The National People’s Party (NPP), during its National Committee and Annual General Meeting held in Tura on September 2, passed a resolution demanding the repeal of the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act (FRA), 1978, calling it “draconian” and a violation of constitutional rights.
