BJP chief spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang on Thursday said the controversy around the proposed tourism project on Lumpongdeng Island goes far beyond only ecological concerns and urged the government to assess environmental impact, preserve government land, and ensure locals benefit from development.
The state government has appealed to Green Tech Foundation (GTF) to withdraw their hunger strike, stating there is no permanent construction project on Lumpongdeng Island and shares the foundation’s aim of preserving its natural environment.
