The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has urged the Nagaland government to immediately cancel Inner Line Permits (ILPs) issued to persons from Assam districts currently undergoing eviction drives.
After similar drives in Dhubri and Goalpara, the Assam government is set to launch a massive eviction operation in upper Assam’s Golaghat district to clear 10,000 bighas (about 3,300 acres) of land in the Rengma Reserve Forest at Uriamghat.
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday visited Uriamghat in Golaghat district to take stock of large-scale illegal encroachments,
He asserted that the government will launch a systematic, phased crackdown to clear all encroachments on village grazing reserves (VGR), professional grazing reserves (PGR), Satras, Naamghars, forest lands, and other public spaces across the state.
