Thousands of enthusiastic spectators came to the Garo village of Chotipara in Goalpara district of Assam to witness the 2nd edition of the 100 Drums Wangala festival that concluded with a colorful display of traditional dance and beating of the drums on Saturday evening.
The spectacular rhythm of the Hundred Drums Wangala festival reached its spectacular peak on the concluding day at Baljek in Jengjal on Saturday. The grand finale of the enthralling event drew a record number of people from far and wide.
As hundreds of tourists flocked to this year’s Wangala Festival at the Baljek Airport in Jengjal in West Garo Hills, some 30 kms from Tura, Hub News got in touch with Andre Wowkonowicz, a French national who is visiting the enthralling festival for the second time, to learn about his experiences and learnings from the festival and of the Garo community.
