Agartala, Dec 18: Tripura police on Thursday arrested three prime accused in the case from neighbouring Assam’s Karimganj district after protests demanding justice for deceased delivery worker Prasenjit Sarkar.
The arrests come days after widespread agitations rocked Dharmanagar town in North Tripura and Tripura’s capital Agartala over the alleged role of the accused in driving the youth to suicide through mental harassment.
The arrested persons are Susmita Bhattacharjee, Sangeeta Bhattacharjee and Saurav Bhattacharjee, all residents of Dharmanagar.
Following their arrest in Karimganj, the trio were brought back to Tripura and shall be produced before a local court later in the day.
Speaking to reporters, Agartala CM Manik Saha said that three out of the four prime accused in the Dharmanagar case who had fled have been arrested from outside and are being brought back to Tripura and police has informed him.
All three were also produced before the court on Thursday.
