Agartala, Dec 18: At least five people were killed and three others were seriously injured after a brick kiln chimney collapsed on workers at Kamalpur in northern Tripura’s Dhalai.
According to reports, the incident occured when the brick kiln was in operational.
The injured workers were immediately shifted to the government-run Govind Ballabh Pant Medical College and Hospital in Agartala for better medical treatment.
Soon after the incident, personnel of the Fire and Emergency Services and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), along with local residents, recovered the bodies of the deceased and rescued the injured, who were taken to nearby hospitals.
Meanwhile, Kamalpur police detained the  owner of the brick kiln, Souvik Paul, and his manager.
