Agartala, Mar 15: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Tribal Youth Federation(TYF) organised a massive protest rally in Agartala against the Central government’s notification for implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA).
The protesters holding posters and banners raised slogan against the BJP government for implementation of CAA.
Speaking to reporters, Nabarun Deb, Tripura unit secretary of DYFI said, “CAA is unconstitutional and undemocratic which has been forcefully implemented by the BJP government. It is one of the major issue because its main intention is to divide and rule. We strongly oppose this CAA because it is against the constitution,”.
The leader cautioned about the dangerous outcomes of trying to divide the population along religious ground, stressing the nation’s collective vulnerability and the integrity of its constitution.
Deb said that the timing of the CAA notification is a strategic ploy to divert attention from pressing issues such as rampant unemployment, escalating prices, and pervasive poverty, which the government has failed to adequately address.
Senior CPIM leaders, incuding former chief minister and CPIM politburo member Manik Sarkar participated in the protest rally.
