Agartala, Aug 28: Tripura Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman on Wednesday announced that the state government is preparing to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all panchayats to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in grassroots governance.
Barman said Tripura has already achieved a milestone by becoming the first state in the country to provide 100% computerisation and internet connectivity across all panchayats. An e-filing system is also in place, speeding up developmental work and simplifying administrative processes.
Highlighting ongoing digital reforms, the minister noted that Chief Minister Manik Saha had earlier rolled out the Amar Sarkar portal. Under the initiative, Panchayat officials and elected representatives are required to visit at least 20 households in rural areas to collect feedback on key issues, including health, education, drinking water, roads, and land records. Reported problems are uploaded to the portal, and concerned departments must resolve them within 15 days.

“The Prime Minister himself appreciated this initiative and suggested its replication across the country. Inspired by Tripura, Madhya Pradesh has already introduced a similar portal,” Barman said.
Looking ahead, the minister stressed that AI integration will be the next leap in governance. “Our aim is to connect Panchayats with AI technology so that with minimal time and effort, we can deliver maximum benefits to the people,” he added.
