Assam BJP reconstitutes 18-member core panel ahead of assembly polls

Guwahati, Aug 28: With less than six months left for the Assam assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday reconstituted its 18-member core committee to steer poll preparations. The move comes just ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled visit to the state.

The core committee will be headed by state BJP president Dilip Saikia. The panel includes Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, national secretary Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Pabitra Margherita, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Bhabesh Kalita, Ashok Bhattarai, Rekharani Das, Moon Swarnakar Boro, G.R. Ravindra Raju, Diplu Ranjan Sarmah, Pallab Lochan Das, Rituparna Baruah, Anup Barman, Ashok Singhal, Dr. Ranoj Pegu and Dr. Rajdeep Roy.

Party leaders said the reconstituted committee will play a central role in strategy formulation, coordination, and grassroots mobilisation as the ruling party seeks to consolidate its base. The BJP is eyeing a strong performance in the polls and has intensified organisational activities across the state.
