Itanagar, Oct 30: Assam Rifles personnel recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), each weighing about 1 kg, from a hut at Insu village under Chongkham police station in eastern Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district last night.

Officials said the IEDs were found inside a hut whose owner is currently absconding. They added that, based on intelligence inputs, the individual may still possess three more active IEDs.

Sources said the explosives were brought to the location by ULFA (I) cadres and were possibly intended to target security forces deployed in the area.

The Assam Rifles, assisted by highly trained Explosive Detection (ED) dogs, carried out a search operation that led to the recovery of the IEDs.

Security operations have been intensified to trace and apprehend the absconding suspect believed to be in possession of the remaining explosives.
