SHILLONG, NOV 5: National People’s Party (NPP) state president and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong has categorically denied reports of a rift between him and fellow party leader and deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, branding the claims as “fabricated” and orchestrated by parties with ulterior motives.
Speaking to media persons on Wednesday, Tynsong expressed shock at the reports circulating on social media and in some sections of the print and electronic media, stating that there is no truth to the claims that there is a cold war between him and Dhar.

Calling the reports “fake news”, he said, “Let me clarify today that it is not at all true and I think this news is a fake news or may be the persons who has written this they may have been used wrongly by any vested individuals or any vested political parties that only God knows.”
He appealed to the media to verify facts before publishing such news, warning that it creates unnecessary confusion among the people.
“So, I would request the person concerned who came out with such statements and with such news to verify before coming out to the public because unnecessary confusion is taking place because there is a boundary for everything. Be it people in the media, be it people in different political parties and be it people in the NGOs or any groups where you belong to, I think we should not play such dirty politics or such dirty news which ultimately creates confusion among the people in the state.”
Tynsong emphasized the NPP’s family-oriented approach, stating that the party treats its members as family and resolves issues through dialogue.

“Let me tell you one thing, I have been with the NPP and for a very long time I was with the Congress. That time I found out the difference between the NPP and the Congress is only one thing and that is that the NPP always treats its members as a family member. That is the beauty of the NPP. Right from the national president be it the state president, be it the district president or be it the block and unit presidents and members of the NPP it is being treated as family members. If we have anything which we do not understand or anything which is sometimes rumours spread, we sit down across the table and ultimately, we resolve the issue. That is the beauty of the NPP family,” he said while urging people not to heed such fake news spread by political mileage-seeking parties or individuals with vested interests.
