SHILLONG, NOV 4: UDP leader and cabinet minister Lahkmen Rymbui has expressed caution regarding the formation of a new regional front for the North East, stating that the party’s primary concern is protecting the rights and interests of Meghalaya’s indigenous people.
“As UDP, our main concern is to protect the rights of the people of Meghalaya and ensure the state’s development,” Rymbui said.
He added that the party would assess the new front’s ideas, programs, and motives before commenting on it.
Rymbui also stated that the interest of Meghalaya’s indigenous people is paramount, regardless of whether the front is regional or national.
“We have to see if it is formed, how it is formed, what type of front, what is its ideology,” he said, indicating that the UDP would take a wait-and-watch approach.
