Tura, March 12: Veterinary services in Tura have been severely disrupted due to the ongoing tension in the town, leaving pet owners struggling to access urgent medical care for their animals at a time when cases of parvovirus among dogs are reportedly increasing.
According to a government statement, several private veterinary clinics as well as the government veterinary hospital in Tura have remained closed amid the prevailing law and order situation.

Residents said many pet owners who rushed to veterinary facilities seeking treatment for their sick animals were forced to return home after finding the clinics shut.
The situation has caused particular concern among dog owners, as parvovirus — a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease — spreads rapidly, especially among puppies if timely treatment is not provided.
Pet owners say the disruption has left them anxious and helpless, particularly in cases where animals require immediate medical attention. Several dogs suffering from parvovirus and other illnesses reportedly need continuous care, including intravenous fluids, medication, and close monitoring — treatment that is currently unavailable due to the closure of veterinary facilities.

Residents also noted that some animals that had already begun treatment before the unrest are now unable to continue their medication or follow-up care, raising fears that their condition could worsen.
Pet owners have appealed to the authorities to ensure that emergency veterinary services remain operational so that animals requiring urgent medical care can receive treatment despite the current situation.
