Shillong, Oct 20: National People’s Party (NPP) leader and cabinet minister Comingone Ymbon on Friday predicted that the opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) will get ‘zero’ in the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council.

Speaking to reporters, Ymbon said, “I have seen they (VPP) will get zero because as of now people do not accept the VPP (in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills region).”

“The reasons I think you know better than me. I have seen in the newspaper you are against the VPP and people are also against the VPP,” he said.

Ymbon also expressed confidence that the NPP will come back to power in the Khasi and Jaintia sector after the ADC elections, slated to be held next year.

He said that NPP is not only fighting against the VPP but also against the UDP, Congress, BJP during the elections. “But as of now I have seen the people of the state have given their mandate to the NPP (which is leading) MDA government and I think this time also NPP will come back in the MDC elections,” Ymbon asserted.
