Tura, March 17: West Garo Hills district police have seized a cache of suspected weapons and detained multiple individuals during a naka checking operation at Aramile.
According to police, the operation was carried out on March 16 as part of intensified surveillance across vulnerable areas. During the checking, several vehicles were intercepted and thoroughly searched.

Police recovered a range of items, including machetes, hammers, catapults, and other objects suspected to be intended for use in potential violence. All recovered items have been confiscated.

The individuals travelling in the vehicles were detained and interrogated. During questioning, they reportedly told police they were heading towards the plain belt area.
Authorities said they are further investigating the motive behind the movement and examining whether there is any larger conspiracy, including possible coordination through other routes in the district.
In response to the situation, West Garo Hills Police have stepped up security measures, intensifying naka checking at key locations and maintaining strict vigil to prevent any untoward incidents.
