Shillong, Jan 10: Williamnagar MLA Marcuise N. Marak on Saturday strongly condemned the “violent and cowardly” attack on members of the ACHIK NGO at Rajabala in West Garo Hills, calling it a direct assault on peace, democracy and the rule of law.
In a statement, Marak said he was in constant touch with the district administration and law enforcement authorities and had urged them to take swift and decisive action to identify those responsible and bring them to justice at the earliest.

Expressing deep anguish over the incident, the MLA offered his heartfelt condolences to the family of Dilseng M. Sangma, who succumbed to his injuries. “His untimely demise is a great loss,” he said, adding that he stands in solidarity with the bereaved family, friends and the ACHIK NGO during this period of grief.
Appealing for calm, Marak urged people to maintain peace and assured that those involved in the attack would not be spared.
“Justice must prevail, and the safety of our citizens remains paramount,” he said.
