Shillong, Jul 1: A young woman was brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend in a parking lot at Pyndengumiong, Mairang under Eastern West Khasi Hills on Monday evening.

The accused, Roberto Marngar from Shyiap Mawnai, allegedly slit the throat of 24-year-old Phyrnailin Kharsyntiew from Mawkhap Mawkynrang, while she was walking with her father around 5:30 PM.

The shocking attack happened in a crowded area. Eyewitnesses said Roberto came from behind and attacked her suddenly. Locals quickly catch him and handed him over to the police.

However , the victim was rushed to Mairang Civil Hospital, but later died from her injuries.

Initial reports suggest the accused was upset over relationship issues, but police say the exact motive is still under investigation.

A case of murder has been registered and the accused remains in custody.
