Jowai, Sept 8: The World Literacy Day was celebrated in West Jaiñtia Hills by the Office of the District Mission Coordinator, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, West Jaiñtia Hills District under the theme “Literacy for a human centered recovery. Narrowing the Digital divide” on Wednesday.
As part of the celebrations and due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of the DMC also instructed the schools to organise the celebrations where children were advised to draw pictures on the significance of the celebrations from their respective houses.
Students also recited poems conveying messages relating to the importance of Education and the Internet in todays generation especially when schools are close for months continuosly.
The students also expressed their happiness that the schools are reopened after months even though they will have to follow the COVID-19 protocols.
The teachers also expressed their confidence that organising the celebrations will help to improve the literacy rate of the district and the State in general.
