Guwahati, Dec 12: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday formally submitted the charge sheet in the mysterious death case of celebrated singer Zubeen Garg, marking a major step forward in the high-profile probe. The voluminous 3,500-page document, filed at the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Guwahati, is registered under FIR No. 18/2025.
The charge sheet was submitted by Rosy Kalita in the presence of SIT officials, as part of a team led by SDGP Munna Prasad Gupta, along with officers Moromi Medhi and Nab Dekai. The extensive compilation underscores the scale and depth of the months-long investigation.

As the SIT team arrived at the court, hundreds of Zubeen Garg’s fans gathered outside, reflecting the emotional public response to the case. Online, the “Justice for Zubeen” campaign continues to gain momentum, demanding accountability and transparency in the probe.
SIT officials confirmed that more than 300 people were interrogated to piece together the circumstances leading to the singer’s untimely death. Seven individuals have been arrested so far, including organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, manager Siddharth Sharma, singer Amritprabha Mahanta, musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, cousin Sandipan Garg (DSP), and PSOs Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora. All remain in judicial custody.
SIT chief Munna Prasad Gupta earlier stated that the submission of the charge sheet will now open the next chapter of judicial proceedings, taking Assam a step closer to uncovering the truth behind Zubeen Garg’s death.
