Shillong, Jun 12: Residents of Shillong and adjoining areas will face an 8-hour water disruption on Monday as the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme undergoes maintenance.
The Chief Engineer of the Public Health Engineering department, has announced a shutdown of the scheme on June 15 from 10 am to 6pm for replacement of pumping machinery at the Stage-I and Stage-II Pumping Stations.
During this period, there will be no water supply to Shillong City and its adjoining areas, the PHE department stated.

The Chief Engineer assured consumers that restoration work will be prioritised. “Every effort shall be made to restore and resume the water supply to the public at the earliest possible time,” he said.
The department also expressed regret over the inconvenience.
Officials have advised residents to store sufficient water in advance to meet their needs during the shutdown.
