Guwahati, June 27: In a major boost to India–Bhutan trade and cultural exchange, the first-ever Bhutan Product Outlet has opened recently in Guwahati.
The outlet situated at NEDFI Haat in Guwahati is a joint initiative between the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi), a public financial institution under the Government of India, and Bhutan’s Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives (DAMC) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
The outlet has been opened by Regional Agricultural Marketing and Cooperative (RAMCO), Gelephu.
The newly opened outlet aims to expand market access for Bhutanese agricultural products, handicrafts, and textiles in India, while introducing the unique craftsmanship and culinary heritage of Bhutan to consumers and tourists in Assam and the Northeast.

The launch event was attended by key officials, including the General Manager of NEDFi and the Consul General of the Royal Bhutanese Consulate in Guwahati. Also present were the Director of DAMC and officials from the Regional Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Office (RAMCO), Gelephu.
The opening ceremony was graced jointly by Jigme Thinlye Namgyal, Consul General of the Royal Bhutanese Consulate General in Guwahati and Ramheu Zeliang, General Manager of NEDFi. The event was also attended by Tashi Dorji, Director of DAMC, MoAL, Thimphu and officials from RAMCO.

Managed by NE-SHILP (Northeast Society for Handicraft Incubation and Livelihood Promotion), the outlet will be supplied by B-COOP Shop, a designated aggregator based in Gelephu. Currently, the outlet showcases 51 authentic Bhutanese products ranging from agri-food items to handcrafted textiles.
The initiative is expected to not only strengthen institutional ties and economic linkages between Bhutan and Northeast India but also promote sustainable livelihoods and cross-border entrepreneurship.
Residents of Guwahati and visitors alike are encouraged to explore the outlet and experience “a taste of Bhutan” right in the heart of the city.
