Advantage Assam 2.0: State to Showcase Investment and Cultural Grandeur in 2025

Guwahati, Nov 25: The Assam government is set to host the second edition of Advantage Assam on February 24 and 25, 2025, in Guwahati, aiming to boost investment opportunities and showcase the state’s economic potential.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the significant achievements of the inaugural 2018 event, which attracted investment proposals worth Rs 1 lakh crore. Despite disruptions caused by the pandemic, the state has managed to sustain investor interest over the years.

The Chief Minister highlighted Assam’s transformation into a hub of good governance and an attractive investment destination, attributing it to the state’s peaceful and movement-free environment. This stability has bolstered investor confidence, paving the way for renewed growth prospects.

Focus on Infrastructure and Key Sectors
Advantage Assam 2025 will prioritize infrastructure development as a cornerstone for attracting investments. Key sessions will spotlight road, rail, agriculture, and civil aviation infrastructure.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the session on road infrastructure.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will lead the discussion on railway infrastructure.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will inaugurate the agriculture infrastructure session.

The civil aviation session will be led by the Union Civil Aviation Minister, focusing on aviation advancements.

Dedicated sessions on industrial investments and Assam’s growing hydrocarbon sector will further amplify the summit’s agenda. The state’s recent decision to establish a semiconductor industry has already attracted interest from leading industrial groups, signaling a promising future for Assam’s economic landscape.

Cultural Extravaganza: A Jhumur Spectacle
The summit will feature a grand cultural performance of Jhumur dance, involving 7,500 performers, including 32 girls from each of Assam’s 800 tea estates. This event will represent the vibrant heritage of Assam’s tea community and celebrate its cultural roots.

“To ensure the performance’s success, we are organizing master trainer workshops, Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC)-level workshops, and district-level rehearsals,” Sarma said, emphasizing the state’s commitment to showcasing its cultural vibrancy alongside economic aspirations.

Global Outreach and Roadshows
To promote Assam as an investment hotspot, the government plans international delegations to Singapore, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Dubai. Additionally, roadshows will be conducted in six major Indian cities—Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata—to engage with investors and raise awareness.

The Chief Minister assured that Advantage Assam 2.0 will be a pragmatic, theme-focused summit, steering clear of extravagance while concentrating on actionable outcomes.
