After Centre warns to cut down nutrition, M’laya’s Aadhar seeded beneficiaries reach 78.21% from 13% in less than a month, Garo Hills records over 90%

Shillong, June 14: The “50 days Aadhar saturation programme” of the Meghalaya Social Welfare Department has achieved spectacular results in less than a month’s time with State figures of Aadhar seeded beneficiaries rising from 13% at start of the campaign to 78.21% as of June 14, 2023.

The Social Welfare Department had launched an Aadhar saturation campaign to enroll and seed all eligible beneficiaries whose Aadhar seeding would be reflected in the POSHAN tracker and who would receive Supplementary Nutrition in Anganwadi Centres.

The campaign was launched after the Ministry of Women and Child Development announced to cut down Supplementary Nutrition Programme allocation to only 10% due to the poor Aadhar seeding of pregnant and lactating women and infants and children from 0-6 years in the State.

Garo Hills districts have performed commendably in spite of the hot and humid weather and power outages showing nothing is impossible where there is grit and determination.

Three districts from Garo Hills have breached 95% Aadhar saturation mark and two are in and around 90%. Jaintia Hills districts and Ri Bhoi have also done well.

Khasi Hills districts have covered ground but not enough, especially South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills. The total State Aadhar seeded ICDS beneficiaries are now 78.21 % out of 4.45 lakh total beneficiaries.

The Deputy Commissioners of all districts have deployed innovative strategies and ideas to resolve issues and motivate their staff.

Recognizing their efforts, the Social Welfare Department has extended congratulations to all Deputy Commissioners and Social Welfare Department officers, DPOs of ICDS , CDPOs and Anganwadi Workers and Helpers for putting in remarkable efforts in this campaign which had a clarion call “No Aadhar Saturation, No Rest”.
