Shillong, Oct 18: The AIESEC (a French acronym for Association Internationale des étudiants en sciences économiques et commerciales, also known as the International Association of Students in Economics and Business), Shillong, along with the Meghalaya Model United Nations (MMUN) started its Global Impact week and conducted a training on the World Largest Lesson on Tuesday at Don Bosco Hr Secondary School and Mount View Sec School at Smit, Nongkrem.
The World Largest Lesson is based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) introduced by the United Nations in 2015 which aims to promote peace and justice, eradicate hunger and the implementation of partnership for global goals by 2030.
Youth organisations like the St Edmund’s College National Service Scheme, Rovers and Rangers from St Anthony’s College, students of Martin Luther Christian University, St. Anthony’s College Model United Nations actively took part in briefing the students of classes 1-10 at Don Bosco Hr Sec School and Mount View Sec School, Smit.
The students were briefed through their local language to make sure the 17 SDGs are thoroughly understood by each student and were then asked to take up one SDG goals and implement these at home and their localities to bring about the needed change as encouraged by the United Nations Organisation.
