Itanagar, Apr 15: Arunachal Pradesh Governor K T Parnaik has sought strong central support to fast-track sports infrastructure and agro-horticulture projects during a meeting with DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in New Delhi.
The Governor pitched for a dedicated football stadium in the state capital, along with integrated sports complexes and state academies across eastern and western Arunachal, highlighting the untapped potential of young athletes and the need for modern training facilities.
On the agriculture front, he pushed for early approval of the “Kiwi as USP” proposal under the North Eastern Council, aiming to scale up production, improve value addition and strengthen market access for farmers.
He also proposed setting up an integrated pack house with solar-powered cold storage at Shergaon in West Kameng district, a move expected to reduce post-harvest losses and significantly boost farmer incomes.
The meeting focused on aligning infrastructure and agriculture to drive inclusive growth, with a clear emphasis on youth empowerment and leveraging Arunachal’s natural strengths.
