Guwahati, Feb 1: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police, in close coordination with district police units, has busted a Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material (CSEAM) network and arrested seven key accused within 24 hours.
According to officials, the operation was conducted across six districts of Assam, where multiple FIRs were registered under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act and the Information Technology Act.
The arrested persons have been identified as Dulu Boruah, Priyam Handique, Raju Dutta, Hemanta Kalita, Minhaz Khan, Aychan Ali Ahmed, and Deluwar Hussain.
In a press statement, Assam Police CID said the arrests were made with live forensics support from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Advanced technical analysis by CID Assam enabled investigators to swiftly identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
“Mobile devices used in the commission of these offences have been seized, and further investigation is underway to unearth the wider nexus involved in the creation and circulation of Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material (CSEAM) and other unlawful content,” the CID said.
It reiterated Assam Police’s zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against children and its commitment to ensuring a safer cyberspace.
Meanwhile, the Cyber Tipline remains a key platform for reporting online child sexual exploitation and abuse material. It allows the public to report suspected abuse, enticement, CSAM, and trafficking through report.cybertip.org or by calling 1-800-843-5678, enabling swift action by authorities.
The system also gathers information from social media platforms and websites where such illegal content is uploaded and shared, allowing the investigators to track offenders and curb their circulation.
