Guwahati, June 8: In a major push for transparent and citizen-focused governance, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday launched the Swagata Satirtha portal — a digital platform aimed at making mutual transfers within the state education department seamless and corruption-free.
Speaking at the launch event, Dr Sarma announced that over 9,000 government employees have already been transferred through the portal “with just a click — without paying a single paisa or knocking on anyone’s door.”
The portal, which eliminates the role of middlemen and ensures a merit-based transfer process, will remain open for applications until September. A second transfer window is expected to open in November. The government also plans to hold a ceremonial distribution of mutual transfer orders for Grade III and IV employees in the coming days.
In a dual announcement, the Chief Minister also introduced the Jiban Anuprerana scheme to support research scholars across Assam. The initiative is designed to foster a culture of academic excellence and strengthen the state’s knowledge ecosystem.
“This is our commitment to bringing transparency and accountability to every facet of government service. Today marks a milestone for Assam as we launch two key initiatives — Swagata Satirtha for smooth mutual transfers and Jiban Anuprerana for our budding researchers,” Dr Sarma said.
The twin initiatives are part of the Assam government’s broader agenda to modernize administrative systems and invest in the future of education and research.
