Shillong, Sept 3: The regional committees setup by the Government of Meghalaya to look into Assam – Meghalaya boundary dispute on Friday met in Shillong.
During the meeting the chairman of the three regional committees led by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Cabinet Minister Renikton Lyngdoh and Snaiwbhalang Dhar, and others including Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi, West Khasi Hills and East Jaintia Hills met at cabinet room and gave presentation to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.

Briefing the media after the meeting, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that it was first meeting of the regional committees, and DCs gave presentation on the micro details which they found out during their visit to the disputed areas.
He said that the exercise will continue and the Government is moving forward to find an amicable solution. He said the committee will sit again in next 2-3 days and once the Assembly Session is over, a joint visit between Assam and Meghalaya delegation will be conducted.
He said the first report of the Meghalaya government is ready and the government is looking for out of the box solution considering historical facts and the prevailing situation in the dispute areas. He said that aspects like economic activities, administrative conveyance, and mood of the people will be considered in coming up with solution to the vexed problem.
He told that the common ground is being studied to find and amicable solution. On different surveys being conducted by the Government including drone survey, census, the Government is looking into various aspects including developmental activities etc.
