Guwahati, Nov 1: In a major crackdown against Fake Indian Curency Notes (FICN), the Special Task Force of Assam police on Tuesday conducted a raid at Basistha area in Guwahati and recovered FICN of 280 numbers of Rs 500 notes.
One person identified as Najrul Mazumdar (35) was arrested in connection with the FICN racket.
Police have recovered two numbers of mobile phones, one FICN printing machine, 21 numbers of sparkling tapes, and two numbers of transparent book covers.
“We have also recovered one HP Deskjet 2332 printer, one ream of white A-4 size paper, one scale, one utility knife, 38 numbers of green colour wrapped, one bundle of white papers in the size of 500 rupees used for 500 denomination in the upper layer, 5 numbers of 500 FICN which were packed, one bundle of white papers in the size of 500 rupees used for 500 denomination in the upper layer, 4 numbers of 500 FICN which were packed, etc,” said a police official.
Last month, Assam police arrested five people and busted a racket that allegedly dealt in fake currency notes in Guwahati.
Acting on a tip-off, the Special Task Force (STF) of the police raided a house in Dakhingaon in the Hatigaon police station area and arrested five people.
