Guwahati, April 24: On Sunday, the Assam police asked Indian Youth Congress (IYC) president Srinivas B.V. to appear before it by May 2 for questioning in connection with allegations of harassment and gender discrimination against him by Angkita Dutta.
Angkita Dutta filed a complaint with the police against Srinivas BV accusing him of harassment and manhandling.
Following the complaint and calling out Srinivas BV on social media, Dutta was expelled from the Congress party for her anti-party activities.
Moitrayee Deka, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Guwahati), Guwahati Police Commissionerate, Kamrup (Metro) in a notice stated, “In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (1) of section 41A CPC, I hereby inform you that during the investigation of Dispur Police Station Case it is recalled that there are reasonable grounds to question you to ascertain facts and circumstances from you, at 11:00 AM on 02/05/2023.”

The notice added, “You are directed to comply with the following directions. You will not commit any offence in future. You will not tamper with the evidence in the case in any manner whatsoever. You will appear before the court as and when required/directed.”
“You will join the investigation of the case as and when required and will cooperate in the investigation. You will disclose all the facts truthfully without concealing any part relevant. You will render your full cooperation/assistance in apprehension of the accomplice. You will not allow in any manner the destruction of any evidence relevant for the purpose of the investigation of the case.”
“The Assam police is acting in accordance with the law. They are currently investigating a case filed by a female Congress worker against the accused person under Section 354 of IPC. It is unfair to blame me for the lack of a safe environment within the Congress party for female workers. Please advise the accused to cooperate with the legal process,” Assam CM tweeted.
A police team from Assam issued a notice to Srinivas BV at his Bengaluru residence, with the order stating that failing to comply with it could lead to his arrest.
