Must read

Agartala, July 25: The mysterious deaths of three members of a family in South Tripura have taken a new turn, with police saying it is too early to determine whether the incident was a case of murder, suicide or something else.

Investigators are awaiting post-mortem and forensic reports after a forensic team and an Executive Magistrate visited the family’s residence following information about the deaths.

According to Santirbazar SDPO Diptanu Biswas, two family members were found lying on the floor inside the house, while the third was found hanging.

“All the required legal formalities have been completed and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. It will take some time to ascertain the nature of the deaths. It is too early to say at this stage whether it is a case of murder, suicide or something else,” he said.

Some relatives have alleged that the family’s son was murdered and claimed that his hands were tied. However, police declined to endorse the allegation, saying the investigation is still at a preliminary stage.

“We noticed a light knot. Let the investigation and legal proceedings take their course. We must wait and see what emerges from the investigation,” Biswas told reporters.

Officials said evidence collected from the scene is being examined and every possible angle is under investigation. They added that no conclusion can be drawn until the post-mortem findings and the forensic science laboratory reports are received.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, with residents anxiously awaiting answers as investigators work to piece together what happened inside the family’s home.
