Dibrugarh, July 25: Students took to the streets in Assam’s Dibrugarh on Friday, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak, saying the controversy had shattered students’ trust in the country’s examination system.
The protest, organised by the Students’ Society under CJP at Chowkidinghee Chariali, saw students carrying banners and placards while raising slogans against the Centre. The demonstration was mobilised through social media and drew participation from students concerned over the integrity of competitive examinations.
“We demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. How did the NEET paper leak? The government must be held accountable because students’ futures are at stake,” a protester said.
Another student said the demonstration was about safeguarding the future of millions of aspirants.
“If we do not raise our voice against this injustice today, who will think about our future? India’s education system needs fundamental reforms,” the student said.
The protest comes amid mounting criticism of the National Testing Agency (NTA) following allegations of paper leaks and irregularities in national entrance examinations.
In a major shake-up, the NTA has terminated the services of 47 officials as part of an overhaul aimed at strengthening accountability and restoring public confidence in the examination system.
Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on a hunger strike, shared an emotional message on social media on Friday, questioning why he still had to prove his commitment to the cause and renewing his call for justice and systemic reforms.
