Shillong, 6 Aug: The Deputy Commissioner (Excise) of East Khasi Hills District has declared August 15, as a Dry Day across the entire district in observance of Independence Day.
The order is issued in accordance with government norms to uphold the sanctity of the national celebration. Strict compliance is expected from all concerned stakeholders.
As per the official notification, all establishments dealing in the sale and distribution of alcohol—including bonded warehouses, IMFL “Off” and “On” shops, wine and beer bars, homemade wine license premises, canteens, outstills, and home delivery services—will remain closed on the said date.
