Tura, Oct 24: A case of bike theft in Fancy Valley, Tura, has left residents deeply concerned about safety in the locality — an area considered secure due to its proximity to the SP Tura Bungalow.
Vikram Dey (24), a resident of Fancy Valley, reported that his TVS Ronin 225cc (2024 model) motorcycle, just a year old, was stolen from the community parking area at around 2:19 a.m.

The thief reportedly broke the handle lock and used tools to dismantle parts of the bike before making off with it.
Speaking to Hub News, Vikram said, “I had gone out of station for some days and came back on the November 23. I parked my bike in the usual place where everyone keeps their scooters and bikes. In the morning, when I came out to go to work, my bike was missing.”
Vikram has lodged an FIR at the Tura Police Station and the investigation is now underway.

CCTV footage from adjoining buildings shows a man entering the area around 2:15 a.m. from the lower Fancy Valley side near the Durga Mandap.

The person can be seen wearing a scarf and carrying a helmet, appearing to move with a clear intention to steal a motorbike.
This is not the first incident to raise concern among residents. Just a few days earlier, Amit Harlalka (45) owner of a Bajaj Avenger 220, found that the petrol from his bike had been stolen, and the speedometer was cracked on the morning of October 19.
The latest theft, occurring so close to the SP Bungalow, has come as a shock to the community. Residents say they had always felt safe parking their two-wheelers outside, but this incident has now made many fear for the security of their vehicles.
Police are examining CCTV footage and gathering leads to identify and arrest the culprit.
