SHILLONG, OCT 8: Despite receiving the report from its fact-finding committee on alleged illegal coal mining in Meghalaya, the state BJP has yet to make it public.
State President Rikman G Momin announced on May 22 that the report had been received and assured that it would be disclosed at an appropriate time.
The committee, formed on February 11, was tasked with investigating the issue.

Led by Convener Bernard R Marak and Secretary Mariahom Kharkrang, the committee comprises eight members.
However, when questioned about the report’s status during a news conference on Wednesday, Kharkrang, who is also the BJP chief spokesperson, deferred to the committee’s chairman, Bernard N Marak, saying, “You have to ask the chairman… he will be able to explain.”
Kharkrang added that as a member, he wasn’t in a position to comment further.
