SHILLONG, NOV 25: The boyfriend of 26-year-old Phidarisha Jyrwa, who died after falling from a moving car, was arrested and later released on bail, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem informed on Tuesday.
The incident took place at around 11.50pm on November 7.
“She (Jyrwa) was picked up by her boyfriend from a wedding at All Saints and from there they had come down towards Police Bazaar and near DC Office junction she was seen falling of the car. There were witnesses who had seen her falling out of the car,” Syiem told reporters.
“She died on November 13 at Woodland Hospital. We had got medical report of the cause of death also which is trauma due to injury to the spine,” he added.
The SP informed that the boyfriend, driver of the car, has been arrested and released on bail.
His vehicle was also seized.
“Right now investigation is on to ascertain whether it was accidental or rash driving or whether there was any premeditated attempt to throw her of the car,” Syiem said adding police are examining CCTV, his statement as there is much more to uncover.
The victim’s brother filed the FIR on November 10, triggering swift police action.
