BSF seizes cattle worth ₹1.9 Lakh, apprehends smuggler at Old Salapara

Guwahati, Jan 14: The 150 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended an Indian cattle smuggler and seized 16 cattle during an operation at the Old Salapara Border Out Post on Wednesday.

According to BSF, the apprehended person has been identified as Abbash Ali (28), son of late Asmat Ali, a resident of Nilokh Part II (Old Salapara), under Sukhchar Post Office and Sukhchar Police Station in Dhubri district of Assam.

During the operation, BSF personnel seized 12 big-sized local breed oxen valued at ₹12,500 each, amounting to ₹1.5 lakh, along with four medium-sized local breed oxen valued at ₹10,000 each, amounting to ₹40,000. The total value of the seized cattle is estimated at ₹1.9 lakh.

Further legal proceedings are being initiated as per law, BSF officials said.
