Central funded projects in Garo Hills reviewed by Union Minister in Tura

Tura, January 8: A review meeting of centrally sponsored schemes and projects was chaired by Union Minister of State, Ministry of Minority Affairs of India, John Barla with the Heads of Departments of West Garo Hills District at Circuit House, Tura on 7th January, 2023.

In the brief meeting, the Union Minister John Barla urged all the District Officers to sensitize and create awareness to the people about various schemes especially centrally sponsored schemes available for the education, development and upliftment of the people of the region. He also advised them to dedicate their valuable service and commitment for the benefit of the people and contribute towards progress and prosperity of the region by implementing various sustainable and developmental activities in the area.

Stating that many different schemes are being launched by the Government of India for the benefit of the people, the Minister of State John Barla further informed that many schemes are available for the minority community but the people do not know how to apply and therefore, he advised the concerned officers to help them in availing these schemes in future.

Earlier during the meeting, the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Swapnil Tembe highlighted the overview of the District profile and its activities including the progress report of Jal Jeevan Mission, Aadhar enrolment, Institutional delivery etc while the Project Director DRDA, Tura Dolrich Berin G Momin emphasized on PMGSY, PMAY, Amrit Sarovar schemes being implemented in the region.

The Additional Deputy Commissioners’, District Officers were among others present at the review meeting.
