Tura, May 26: With an aim of educating the public about the significant risks associated with tobacco use as well as empowering individuals to make informed choices about their health, the Christian Boys Secondary School organized a rally in Tura on Monday to observe ‘World No Tobacco Day 2025’.

The event, held under the theme “Tobacco! Business of Death”, aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco use.

Around 130 students from classes 5 to 10 participated in the rally, alongside teachers and community members. Led by Headmistress Teballina Marak, the group marched from the school grounds in Mission Compound to Chandmari junction and back.

Participants carried placards and chanted slogans to highlight the harmful effects of tobacco, particularly on youth, and to draw attention to the negative ramifications of the tobacco industry.

Before the march, the students also took a pledge against tobacco, promising a tobacco-free future.
