NSCN expels two top commanders over ‘anti-national activities’, parallel outfit

Guwahati, July 4: In a significant development within Naga insurgent circles, the Yaruiwo-led Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) has expelled two of its most senior military commanders, accusing them of defiance, disloyalty and attempting to float a parallel organisation within the outfit.

Lieutenant General (Retd.) Hs. Ramsan and Lieutenant General (Retd.) A. Raman were excommunicated from the NSCN/GPRN through an order issued by the outfit after what it described as repeated acts of insubordination and refusal to respond to reconciliation efforts initiated by the Council Headquarters (CHQ).

The GPRN accused the two leaders of a range of “anti-national activities”, including mutiny, rebellion, desertion, extortion, unauthorised alliances, treason, embezzlement, drug trafficking and forming a separate organisation.

With immediate effect, all ranks, titles, honours and privileges conferred on the two commanders have been withdrawn.

In a subsequent order issued on July 1, the GPRN directed all NSCN cadres serving under Ramsan and Raman to immediately sever all links with the expelled leaders and report to the Council Headquarters (CHQ) and General Headquarters (GHQ) for documentation and fresh deployment.

The outfit warned that any cadre failing to comply with the directive would face disciplinary action.
The expulsion of two of the organisation’s senior-most commanders is expected to have implications for the internal dynamics of the NSCN/GPRN, even as reconciliation efforts within the broader Naga political movement continue.
