Kohima, July 4: The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) has postponed its proposed public rally from July 7 to July 10 and announced a dawn-to-dusk shutdown across the six eastern districts to press for the early implementation of the proposed Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the ENPO Central Executive Council and a joint meeting of tribal and frontal organisations held in Tuensang.
ENPO said simultaneous peaceful rallies would be organised at all district headquarters in Eastern Nagaland on July 10 to reaffirm public support for the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed with the Centre and the Nagaland government on February 5, and to demand its early implementation.
As part of the mobilisation, a pre-rally meeting of MoA signatories will be held in Dimapur on July 7, where participants will sign an undertaking reaffirming their commitment to the agreement.

The organisation has also called for a peaceful dawn-to-dusk shutdown on July 10 across Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Shamator and Longleng districts. While essential services are expected to remain exempt, commercial establishments and vehicular movement are likely to be affected.
The FNTA proposal seeks to provide greater administrative autonomy to the six eastern districts, which have long alleged neglect, underdevelopment and inadequate representation. The February 5 MoA provides a framework for establishing the autonomous body within Nagaland to address these concerns.
ENPO said implementation of the agreement “in letter and spirit” is essential for ensuring peace, justice and equitable development in Eastern Nagaland, adding that the rally and shutdown are intended to accelerate the process. District administrations are expected to issue traffic and public service advisories ahead of the shutdown.
