The Rs 45-crore project, funded by the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, is being implemented by WAPCOS Ltd., New Delhi.
Accompanied by Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, senior officials, traditional leaders, and local representatives, the Chief Minister reviewed the quality and pace of the construction.
Emphasising the project’s transformative impact, Sangma said that once completed, the EMRS would expand access to quality education for tribal students and become a hub for social and academic development in the region.
He directed the contractors and departments concerned to speed up the remaining works so that the school can become fully operational by 2026, allowing students to begin classes without delay.
“The EMRS will not only improve educational outcomes but also empower the youth of Jaintia Hills with better learning infrastructure,” Sangma said.
