In a recent development, the Governor of Meghalaya has made a crucial decision to enhance the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) payable to all categories of state government employees, pensioners, and family pension holders.
The existing rate of thirty-six percent is set to be increased to thirty-nine percent, and this change is slated to take effect from July 1, 2023.
These directives shall extend to members of the work-charged establishment and casual workers, excluding bungalow persons, occupying positions within the applicable pay levels corresponding to employees in similar categories within the regular establishment, services, or posts.
The memo also read that “the Dearness Relief specified in these directives will be temporarily suspended if pensioners or family pensioners engage in employment or re-employment under the State/Central Government or are permanently absorbed in a State/Central Government Company, Corporation, Undertaking, or Autonomous Body. The suspension will be lifted upon the conclusion of the employment or re-employment period.”
The payment for Dearness Allowance/Dearness Relief, including fractions of 50 paise and above, will be rounded off to the next higher rupee, while fractions less than 50 paise will be disregarded.
The disbursement of Dearness Allowance/Dearness Relief, as approved in this order, will be charged to the respective heads of accounts from which employees receive their salary, and pensioners/family pension holders receive their pension.
