Shillong, Oct 19: The Central Puja Committee (CPC), Meghalaya, has condemned the attack on Hindus in Bangladesh during the recently concluded Durga Puja festival. On Sunday, the CPC Meghalaya met and noted with “grave concern and intense anguish” including indiscriminate assault on devotees during the just concluded Puja festival.
According to the CPC, the premeditated attack launched over different regions and districts of Bangladesh with hundreds of people actively engaged in the Taliban style genocide and destruction is a blatant infringement on freedom of religion and belief practised by the Hindu minorities of Bangladesh. The reality of discrimination in the matter of Religious Rights and its denial is an everyday reality, which has led not only to untold misery, but also persecution directed against Hindus minorities, it said.
The CPC, while condemning the ghastly and unprovoked attack all over Bangladesh, has also decided to submit a memorandum through the Governor and Chief Minister of Meghalaya, drawing the immediate attention of Heads of State and Government of both India and Bangladesh, urging them to immediately rein in the culprits and bring an immediate halt to the widespread violence against helpless Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.
