Imphal, June 8: A video of CRPF Director General G.P. Singh addressing personnel in Manipur has gone viral on social media, drawing attention for his strong message to forces deployed in the violence-hit state.
In the video, Singh is heard telling CRPF personnel to act decisively against armed miscreants and assuring them that bona fide actions taken in the line of duty would be fully supported.
“If you don’t fire at miscreants, then why has the government given us so much ammunition? Till I am DG, all bona fide action will be taken care of. You have to do your duty with sincerity. Don’t take tension, I will follow up everything,” Singh is heard saying in the viral clip.
The remarks came during the CRPF chief’s visit to Manipur, where he reviewed the prevailing law and order situation and interacted with officers and jawans deployed across sensitive areas.
During the visit, Singh directed security forces to take firm action against armed elements operating in civilian areas. He also announced the deployment of two elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) units to strengthen counter-insurgency and security operations in the state.
The review meeting was attended by Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s successor Y. Khemchand, and senior police officials, including Director General of Police Mukesh Singh. The leadership reportedly finalised a roadmap aimed at restoring peace and normalcy in the state.
According to Singh, discussions at the highest levels of government indicate that the security situation in Manipur could witness significant improvement over the next one to one-and-a-half years.
The visit comes against the backdrop of continuing violence in parts of the state. Just days earlier, unidentified gunmen allegedly killed three villagers, including a woman, and set fire to several houses in Kangpokpi district’s Saitu-Gamphazol subdivision.
Manipur has witnessed prolonged ethnic violence and periodic attacks on both civilians and security personnel, posing one of the country’s most complex internal security challenges.
The viral video has since sparked widespread discussion, with many viewing the remarks as a sign of a more assertive security approach in the state’s ongoing efforts to curb violence and restore stability.
