DC urge Tura residents not to allow children below 18 to drive vehicles

Tura, Apr 29: Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills Jagdish Chelani has urged the parents not to allow their children below 18 years and who do not have a proper driving license issued by competent authority to drive vehicles.

In an order issued this afternoon, Chelani has directed Superintendent of Police, District Transport Office and the Motor Vehicle Inspectors of West Garo Hills to initiate regular check, patrolling and naka checkings to ensure that strict compliance to traffic rules and Motor Vehicle Act is maintained within the district.

“Any persons found in violation of the rules and regulations shall face stringent penalties and legal actions in accordance with the law. All public transport vehicles and school vehicles shall be parked in designated area and drive as per rules without causing any hassle or scare to the other commuters”, the order said.

He also directed the district police to ensure checks against driving in inebriated condition, through breath analyser tests at major junctions/Naka checkpoints.
