Rajnath Singh performs Sastra Puja in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang, reviews defence preparedness along LAC

Itanagar, Oct 24: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh observed the Chinese PLA posts on the other side of the border from Bum La in Arunachal Pradesh.

He also carried out first-hand on-ground assessment of the operational preparedness of the Armed Forces there.

Singh also interacted with the troops deployed in the frontline locations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and celebrated Dussehra with them.

Earlier in the day, Singh also performed Sastra Puja on the occasion of Vijay Dashmi.

Singh in his address, reiterated that Dussehra signifies the victory of good over evil. He described the righteousness and dharma of the brave Armed Forces personnel as the living testament to the ethos of the festival of Vijayadashmi.

 

Rajnath Singh also paid tribute to 1962 war hero Subedar Joginder Singh at his memorial at Bum La, Arunachal Pradesh.

He was accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande; General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Eastern Command Lt Gen RP Kalita; GOC, 4 Corps Lt Gen Manish Erry and other senior officers of the Indian Army.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is on a two-day tour of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh from October 23, meeting security forces in Tawang and forward areas.
